Spring Cleaning the Master Bedroom
I was reading this post on Simple Mom this morning, and she said "Today’s focus is the area on which we tend to focus least. Our master bedrooms should be your haven of the entire home, the one place where you can find solace with your spouse and some grownup time apart from the kids. So why do master bedrooms become the storage unit for kids toys, the catch-all for clutter when company arrives, and the last place to get clean? I’m pretty sure it’s because as home managers, we take care of everyone else in the family, leaving ourselves last." That is most definitely not the case for me! My bedroom is always the cleanest room of the house, because I need calm to be able to sleep. I don't know when this happened, because as a kid, my room was a mess - a bigger mess than all 3 of my boys' rooms combined. Oh how I have changed in my old age ;) And I make my bed the instant my husband drags his butt out of it each morning.
I vacuumed under my platform bed yesterday when I was cleaning Brendan and Connor's rooms...that's a fun task. I have to take the mattress off, and then the slats...but its so worth it, because the dust bunnies multiply like bunnies under there! I regret now not taking photos :( Its also where I hide Christmas presents because no one knows that hiding place exists!! Its awesome. Just hard to get to :) So all I did today was put away the multitudes of bath and body works hand soaps that were on my closet floor, along with the sunscreens. One goes in my suitcase for Phoenix, the others go in the kids bathroom, which is where I store all the *extras*. They are boys, have so much storage space, and so little to store! ![]()
![]() I told Daisy "NO" to eating the tulips. She looks annoyed, doesn't she? ![]() I wish I could say the same for my husband...see all those shoe boxes at the top in the first pic? He has 12 pair of shoes the same, and he doesn't wear them because they make his feet hurt, but he won't get rid of them :/ I don't really like the set-up of my closet but I make it work. I would love to get a closet company to come in and re-do everything, but there are other things I need to put my money towards first. The question of the day is "What do you love most about your bedroom?" and my asnwer is MY BED. It's huge, it's comfy, it's gorgeous. I also love the art above my bed...got that at Ikea. And a sculpture that replicates my family...the parents and 3 children - my husband got me that after our third son was born...and of course, the photos of my kids when they were young.
What I don't like about my bedroom is the color!!! Its like a bandaid, its awful, LOL Comments: I have a rule whoever gets out of the bed last has to make it. That is usally me since my husband is off for work at 5:30am. Google: kids platform beds Carpets Spring Cleaning the Master Bedroom kids platform beds |
